Quality assurance

 

Cables are safety-relevant and essential components of electrical devices, systems or luminaires.

Therefore, we are particularly required as a cable confectioner in terms of product quality.

 

 

Our quality assurance has these goals:

 

  • To promote the development of our employees so that they can optimally carry out their work
  • To achieve customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor and improve procedures and machine and tool settings.
  • Keep production costs as low as possible

 

The main technical features of the quality assurance department are explained below:

 

 

Crimp force:

 

Our machines Komax Alpha 433, Komax Gamma 333 and Schleuniger Crimpcenter 67 are equipped with integrated crimp force monitoring. The strength of the fully automatically manufactured crimp connection is monitored.

 

How it works:

There are sensors in the two presses, which monitor the applied crimping forces.

The values ​​of the good crimps are taught as reference values ​​at the start of the batch; a tolerance range is set for these reference values.

During operation, the values ​​may fluctuate within this tolerance limit.

If the tolerance limit is adhered to, the produced crimp connections are classified as good. If the tolerance values ​​are exceeded or not reached, the machine will stop and the bad part will be automatically destroyed.

 

 

Micrograph laboratory:

 

The microsection shows in a cross section the interior of the previously transversely separated crimp connection. Now the surface is ground flat and cleaned by etching. Afterwards, crimp grades can be evaluated:

 

  • The crimp height and width
  • edge spacings
  • Floor thicknesses and shapes
  • The degree of compression
  • Evaluations provide information on the quality of the crimping tool.

 

 

Tensile strength:

 

The finished blanks are subjected to the tensile strength measurement, the strength of the crimp is measured according to DIN 46 249 Part 1.

Because of this destructive method, the measurement is carried out on a random basis.

With an increasing force, the crimp contact is pulled manually until it breaks off.

The force used at this moment is displayed by a tester in the unit Newton.

The crimp is OK if this applied pull-off force is in the tolerance range of the Norm.

 

 

Parts monitoring with camera:

 

With a camera, photos of parts or crimp connections are taken.

A special software displays these pictures enlarged on the screen, any defects are visible.

Technical errors are detected that could not previously be found during automatic crimp force monitoring.

An example are bent hooks on crimp contacts, which should then be used to lock insulation or plug connection housings.

 

In addition, ten continuity testers are used for the test of multi-pole cables and a high voltage tester.

Test reports, micrographs, enlarged camera shots of product details and initial sample test reports can be created on customer request.
